Around 4 years ago Kamlyn Chak started a volunteer group to help Oasis, a local charity. Oasis provides children in Stockwell with outdoor spaces to play, they have three sites – a nature garden, adventure playground and go-karting track.
The volunteer group have been working towards a vision to transform part of the adventure playground which had become derelict. They are creating an edible forest garden with a strong focus on adventure for the children to enjoy.
After much fundraising and hard work from all involved, they are now seeing the fruits of their labour with the Stockwell Urban Oasis taking form.
Kamlyn called Rudridge in Farnham, who then contacted Stanton Bonna to see if we could donate a pipe for the garden. We provided a 1050mm diameter precast concrete pipe on a Rudridge delivery which then went on to Stockwell as a split delivery, to save on cost. Kamlyn also contacted a local crane company who kindly offloaded the pipe for them when it arrived.
The Stockwell Urban Oasis is now open and the Stanton Bonna pipe has been used as a play tunnel in the forest garden. It has been lined and partly covered to create a fun feature in the garden.
